BiPAC 2300 BPL Access Head-End Unit provides a cost-effective means of delivering broadband to a large group of users within one building. Billion Smart Grid PLC coupling accessories are used to inject and adapt the telecommunication signal from the PLC equipment to the powerlines (MV and LV). There are two types:
a. CCU: Capacitive couplings injects signal by direct contact with the powerlines
b. ICU: Inductive couplings inject the signal by induction |

a. Capacitive Coupling Unit
The Billion SG-LV-CCU series is a kind of Smart Grid accessories that enables the coupling of the data signal into powerline in a powerline communication system.
PLC signal is coupled into the powerline through two coupling capacitors (included in the device) that filter the 50/60 Hz power wave. Their outputs (marked as Line and Neutral in the device) have to be directly connected to the lines.
The rest of the coupling circuit includes a transformer that guarantees the galvanic isolation and makes the coupling of PLC signals of the data cable (from the PLC data device).
This integrated configuration (coupling capacitors and coupling circuit in the same device) optimizes impedance-matching behavior between power lines and PLC equipment, reducing losses and improving the available bandwidth for PLC communication.

b. Inductive Coupling Unit
The Billion SG-LV-ICU series is a kind of Smart Grid accessories that enables the coupling of the data signal into powerline in a powerline communication system.
A primary winding of a data signal cable (connected to a PLC data device) is coupled (using ferrite beads) into the power transmission cable that works as secondary winding.
